The Appreciating Nature Starter Kit … by Kate Foster, author and professional editor
WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD???
I know I’m not the only one to ask this question right now!
We’re experiencing some pretty strange and downright terrifying times and we’re all a little freaked out and preoccupied. No judgement from me. Who can blame us? But this blog isn’t to discuss the state of things or boring politics, because there’s enough debate and argument going on to raise the anxiety levels and put our brains in constant overload.
What I believe we need to do is keep busy and proactive. Easier said than done, of course; but social distancing needn’t be a time of constant stress or boredom either. It can be a time to show our kids that the little things count as much as the big things.
No matter your stance on climate change, we’re all capable of appreciating nature and wildlife a little more than we already do, and perhaps learning to respect the world around us from as young an age as possible might give kids the tools to make a difference in the long run.
Because if children don’t have the respect or appreciation for the wildlife they can see out their window, how do we expect them to care for the entire world?
So, while you’re stuck at home during these days of Covid-19, try a few of these simple things I’ll be posting to connect your kids (and you!) with nature. And the best thing: you don’t need to ban screen time (except for school work!); you can incorporate it. WIN WIN!
Watch out for our NEW PAGE on this blog … COMING SOON!
A huge welcome from all of us to our newest CBCreators4CA Team Member, KATE FOSTER.
